Celebrating Bicycle Month on Florida’s Adventure Coast
The month of March is designated as Florida Bicycle Month; comfortable weather and sunshine make Florida’s Adventure Coast, Brooksville-Weeki Wachee an ideal place to bike throughout the year.
Regardless of your level of expertise, Florida’s Adventure Coast offers some of the best bike paths in the state. Some are paved paths along former railroad beds that give cyclists safe, convenient places to ride. Others are dirt trails set deep within forests and preserves, offering wild escapes for trail runners, birdwatchers, and equine enthusiasts, as well as cyclists.
The Good Neighbor Trail starts in Brooksville’s historic downtown, and is a 10-mile greenway linking downtown with the Withlacoochee State Trail. The trail features mostly flat and uninterrupted stretches, making it easy to just relax and enjoy the ride.
The scenic award-winning Suncoast Trail, part of Florida’s statewide Greenways and Trails System, offers a variety of terrain popular with locals and visitors alike. At 41.3-miles, the Suncoast Trail is among the longest paved trails in the state.
