Florida’s Adventure Coast’s newest attraction is Lead Foot City. A short drive north of Tampa, Lead Foot City is the destination for all things automotive. Recently opened and thrilling car enthusiasts with monthly super swaps and car shows, Lead Foot City is just getting geared up. It’s the site of outdoor special events featuring vendors, demonstrations, classic cars and top-rated entertainment.

At events, car buffs mingle with like-minded people from around the region. Many come to channel their inner stunt driver with power turns around the burnout and drift pad. There, visitors can use their own car, truck or bike or arrange drift cart rentals.
Entering the campus is like stepping into an automotive theme park, surrounded by vintage signage and memorabilia. Not only is Lead Foot City the place for interactive automotive adventures, individuals or groups can also arrange behind-the-scenes tours of automotive manufacturing operations.

We’ve asked Achilles Thomas, founder of Lead Foot City, to answer a few questions.

Q: What was your inspiration to develop this
unique venue?
A: Being raised in the automotive industry and
seeing a lack of auto related entertainment in the area
is what drove me to create this destination. It is a
Disneyland for Gearheads.
Q: Already a sensation among car enthusiasts;
what is your overall vision for Lead Foot City?
A: We have big plans for the future, including the addition of a Vintage Themed Drag Strip, Autocross and Drifting Course, and a large scale Amphitheater for concerts and festivals. It will be the only venue of its kind in the entire United States, combining motorsports and music all in one place.
Q: Outdoor events are possible ways to get out of the house and stay safe these days; why is a Lead Foot City experience a great idea?
A: It is the most unique motorsports venue in the state and probably the country. Having the only “Burnout Pad” open to the public, drift carts for rent that allow you to take a spin in a fun safe manner, and manufacturing tours giving you a behind the scenes look into transmissions and torque converters. Our events are all held outdoors and family friendly.
