Bottom Dwellers Scuba and Charter is a family-owned scuba and boat charter company based in Hernando County. Founded by Heather and Jason Kogel, the business shares a passion for diving, ocean conservation, and helping others explore the Gulf Coast waters.
The company offers scuba instruction, guided dive charters, and sunset or daytime cruises departing from Hernando Beach Marina. Certified instructors teach scuba courses ranging from Open Water certification through advanced and professional-level training.
Charters take place aboard a 28-foot Aquila Molokai catamaran and may include guided dives, snorkeling, wildlife viewing, or relaxing cruises along the Gulf Coast. Trips are designed for small groups and provide an opportunity to enjoy the marine life and coastal scenery of Florida’s Adventure Coast.

Catherine AbramsheWhat an incredible experience from start to finish! The crew was professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about diving. They made everyone feel welcome, whether it was your first dive or your hundredth. The boat was clean, well-organized, and had plenty of room to gear up and relax between dives. The dive sites were absolutely beautiful, with excellent visibility and abundant marine life. The crew provided thorough briefings, prioritized safety at every step, and were always available to help with equipment or answer questions. They timed everything perfectly, so we got the most out of every dive without feeling rushed. It was obvious they know the local waters extremely well and genuinely care about giving guests the best possible experience. I couldn't have asked for a better day on the water. I'll definitely be booking with them again and would highly recommend this charter to anyone looking for a safe, fun, and memorable diving adventure!

Danielle ChurchillMy husband and I started diving years ago, but have not been recently. Feeling a bit rusty and with an impending trip to the Galapagos we wanted to find a local dive team to help us with a refresher course and to feel comfortable in the water again. Bottom Dwellers exceeded all of our expectations. They were unbelievably responsive, professional, safety forward and so fun to be around. They have a beautiful boat, rented us top notch gear and found a lovely, but low key diving spot for us to get our first few refresher dives under our belts. I would highly recommend them to both the novice and experienced diver looking for an enjoyable underwater experience.

Betsy WootersGreat experience. Three of us moms went with 3 diving teens. The boys loved exploring the tanks underwater. Mine started to feel sick, not sure if sea sick, heat or hunger but Heather was on top of it giving him solutions and he was able to participate in the 2nd dive.

Allison CookHeather and Jay were very professional and thoughtful. They gave a thorough breifing and Heather was aware under water. We had a choice of several dive sites. We had two great dives and relaxing boat ride. The cat style boat rides very smoothly, and has a fresh water rinse. 😊. All in all, a great day. Thanks!

Claudia MendezI had the best time on my scuba diving trip in the Gulf! Heather was absolutely amazing. She helped me learn so much and always made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. She took the time to ensure my mask and all of my gear fit properly, which made a huge difference in my confidence underwater. As someone who struggled with anxiety and nervousness, Heather was incredibly patient and supportive. She helped me work through my fears, answered every question I had, and made sure I felt as prepared as possible before every dive. Her teaching style is encouraging, thorough, and easy to understand. Jason and Heather are both incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. They made me feel like part of the family from day one. We had so much fun throughout the entire experience, and they were always patient while teaching and practicing skills. One thing I really appreciated was that they let you practice as many days as needed to make sure you're comfortable and confident before moving forward. I feel very lucky that I got certified with them. Their dedication to their students and passion for diving really show. I can't wait to go diving with them again soon. If you're looking for instructors who genuinely care about your success, safety, and enjoyment, I highly recommend them!

Carolyn CarmodyThe absolute best! This is second time we came back with them! Its a nice size boat that we feel safe diving! Jason did a great job keeping boat steady and Heather is a fantastic guide! They are very attentive to diver safety and having a great time! This round we did our first night dive since certification and could not think of anyone else we would rather try our first night dive ocean experience with! 100% recommend! You will not regret it! Hands down the best charter in the area! 😁
