Weather & Best Times to Visit

    • Spring: Pleasant and sometimes warm or slightly cooler; Ideal for outdoor activities like cycling and paddling, outdoor festivals and events, manatee viewing and bird watching. The weather can vary greatly throughout the day, ranging from cool in the morning to warm in the afternoon and vice versa.
    • Summer: Warm and sunny, great for water activities like swimming, boating and scalloping. Pay attention to local news broadcasts for weather changes. Late afternoon rains are frequent though often short-lived. This is the busiest time of year for water activities, like swimming at Buccaneer Bay, located within Weeki Wachee Springs State Park.
    • Fall: Ideal for outdoor adventures like cycling, fishing and bird watching, with milder temperatures. Enjoy fall festivals and corn mazes in October, or take a hike in November to see fall wildflowers in bloom.
    • Winter: Cooler but pleasant, perfect for hiking, cycling, outdoor festivals and viewing manatees. Be aware that during cool weather, manatees will gather in warm waters like springs and rivers in order to escape the cold; this behavior is critical to their survival, so it is important to not disturb them in any way.
