Great family dinner while visiting the area. Lots of options for adults and kids. The water view was nice. Our table ordered shrimp, stuffed shrimp, fried haddock and the hombre burger. Not the best stuffed shrimp I’ve ever had but decent. Everything else was delicious and we would order again. The highlights would be the loaded baked potato. The melted crispy cheese on top is a great touch. The hombre burger was also a star. The 2 jalapeño poppers in the burger were really good! Overall the spice was mild not super hot. Lots of parking and service was quick.
Jun 11, 2026 · Google ReviewA Sun-Drenched Masterclass in Brunch and Booze Rating: 5/5 Stars If you are looking for the ultimate cure for a slow morning, The Lazy Lizard completely nails it. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is exactly what you want when you’re shaking off sleep: laid-back, welcoming, and front-loading some of the best flavors in town. The Drinks Let’s start with the immediate priority: the Bloody Mary. It wasn’t just a drink; it was practically a side dish in the best way possible. Perfectly spiced with a serious kick, balanced acidity, and a loaded garnish game that lets you know they mean business. It’s vibrant, savory, and sets a high bar for the rest of the meal. The Breakfast The kitchen here knows exactly how to handle coastal breakfast classics, elevating standard morning fare into something genuinely memorable. Shrimp and Grits: Absolute perfection. The grits were unbelievably rich, creamy, and smooth, acting as the perfect bed for plump, beautifully seasoned shrimp. The savory sauce tieing it all together had incredible depth—the kind of dish where you find yourself scraping the bowl to get every last drop. Eggs Benedict on Crab Cakes: A total knockout. Swapping out the traditional English muffin for crisp, golden crab cakes is a genius move, especially when the cakes are packed with real crab and minimal filler. The poached eggs were flawlessly executed with a rich, velvety run, and the hollandaise was bright and velvety without being heavy. The Verdict The Lazy Lizard manages to hit that rare sweet spot where a casual, relaxed atmosphere meets high-caliber culinary execution. Between the top-tier mixology and a kitchen that treats coastal breakfast staples with absolute respect, this spot is an absolute must-visit. Bring an appetite, order a drink, and lean into the lazy pace.
May 31, 2026 · Google ReviewStaying at the Hampton Inn in Spring Hill made for a really quick trip over to this spot while visiting our daughter. It is a classic coastal resort feeling bright type of bar that you cannot help but notice from the road. The staff was welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived and they greeted us right away. They asked if we had reservations and even though we did not they still sat us very quickly which was a nice surprise. One tip for others is that the tables by the water were all reserved so specifically calling ahead for those is the way to go if you want that view. A live band was playing and they were really good and added such a great energy to the room. All of the drinks were excellent. Their drinks were perfect pours and the beer was cold. The food arrived remarkably fast and everything was fresh and flavorful. That Aloha Burger was delicious and the unique lizard brand on the bun is a very cool touch. Our daughter's boyfriend suggested the alligator bites and they were perfectly fried and fun to try. We also really enjoyed the linguine with shrimp and sea scallops and the fried pickles were good especially with their tasty ranch. Our waitress was attentive and made sure everything was handled professionally throughout the entire meal. Everything from the dining area and lobby all the way out to the parking lot was spotless and clearly well maintained. There is plenty of easy parking and the whole atmosphere is bright and inviting. This is a reliable high quality spot that made for a perfect vacation dinner and we had no complaints at all.
May 3, 2026 · Google ReviewWe had a wonderful time. Pleasantly surprised but the live music on a Monday evening. The band was wonderful. We’re visiting from NH and had great food, saw the resident gator and the staff were amazing.
May 5, 2026 · Google ReviewThe Lazy Lizard is exactly what you want in a Florida dive bar experience — laid-back, lively, and full of character. Located in Hernando Beach, this spot is a perfect mix of local hangout and must-visit destination for tourists looking to experience the coastal vibe. One of the biggest highlights is the atmosphere. There’s a ton of outdoor seating with really unique options — for example, we sat around a replica boat table, which added such a fun and memorable touch. There are also tables that sit right along the canal, giving you a beautiful view of the water and surrounding nature. The property overlooks a preserve, so you’ll hear tropical birds and natural Florida sounds while you’re dining, which really elevates the experience. They even have a small platform along the water where you can spot local wildlife, including large Florida birds and even small alligators from time to time. It’s one of those places where the setting alone makes it worth the visit. Parking can be a bit tight during peak times, but there is an overflow lot across the street, which helps. They also have live music every day, so the place fills up quickly — I definitely recommend going earlier if you want your pick of seating, especially with a group. When you arrive, you’re greeted and seated by a hostess, and from there you can relax, look over the menu, and start ordering. The service during our visit was quick, attentive, and friendly, even with the place getting busy. We started with the fried pickles, which came with a homemade ranch. These were done really well — the pickles were crisp and firm, and the breading stayed perfectly intact with every bite. The ranch was flavorful and paired great with them. For our meals, we ordered the shrimp with sides of fries and green beans, along with a Cuban sandwich and fries. Everything was well cooked and well seasoned. The fries had a really good seasoning on them — something with a bit of a Cajun-style flavor — and it was evenly coated throughout, not just sitting on top. The green beans tasted incredibly fresh, almost like they came straight from the field, which was a nice change from typical restaurant sides. The shrimp was fantastic, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The Cuban sandwich really stood out as well. It was made with real, quality meats, not just thrown together like a basic deli sandwich. You could tell time and care went into making it, and it was a refreshing change from some of the more rushed versions you find elsewhere. We also noticed other guests ordering burgers, and they were massive — definitely something we’ll be coming back to try next time. The live band was another highlight. They sounded so good that at one point we were genuinely questioning whether we were hearing a cover or the original track — especially when they played Santana. It added such a fun, energetic vibe to the entire experience. The space itself was clean and well maintained, and the décor stayed true to that laid-back, coastal dive bar theme without feeling overdone. Overall, The Lazy Lizard delivers on atmosphere, food quality, live music, and service. Whether you’re a local looking for your go-to spot or visiting the area and wanting a true Florida experience, this place absolutely lives up to it. Definitely a five-star experience, and I’ll be back again.
