Aripeka Sandhills Preserve
The Aripeka Sandhills Preserve offers approximately 2 miles of trails for hiking and recreation opportunities for fishing. The preserve is part of a regional system of conservation lands that extends up to Crystal River Buffer Preserve, preserving the southernmost coastal hardwood hammock in western Florida. As part of this large preserve, Aripeka Sandhills preserves important habitat communities such as dense hardwood swamps and pine-covered sandhills.

Laura ElizabethPretty for walking trails. Be careful, we got dehydrated within a couple hours! It was windy with a cooler breeze so it snuck up on us. Bring plenty of water and protein snacks.

K InsalacoNice quiet 2mi loop. Not too much tree cover and the path is mostly very soft sand. Lots of birds to hear and see. Trail markings were a little hard to spot but it's easy enough to find your way.

Frances FleemanThis was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. It was out of a painting and the real Florida I have been craving. They are removing all of Florida's natural resources for the droves of people that continue to move here and desecrate this beautiful, amazing state!

Ian MacRaeThis preserve has lots of upside. Off the top it is free to access. There is a parking lot. It is 2 minutes off US19. Is it full of natural beauty? Not particularly. It’s an old quarry site. The quarry pit filled in with water, and has somewhat naturalized. And the trail is more or less a perimeter fire road. So not overly scenic, but nice for a 2 mile walk. I would not recommend going on the weekend as there are a lot of contract photo shoots and remote control car enthusiasts at the park. There are deer, snakes, armadillos and alligators, if you are quiet and observant.
