When in Brooksville visiting family, we always make sure to stop by Deep South Family BBQ. Today when we arrived, the staff was warm & welcoming. We received a greeting upon entry and proceeded to a small vestibule area up front where you can browse the digital menu and order with a real person, in our case a young woman who was very kind and efficient. Walking into the small dining room to find a seat while we waited for our order, we noticed every table was occupied and the customers were animated and happy, all seeming to enjoy their food and atmosphere. We were offered a place to sit with a gentleman just finishing his meal and had a nice conversation, which was just perfect for a Sunday afternoon. Since it is a small, older building, there is limited seating but they utilize the space by offering both tables and a bar with barstools along one wall. The dining room is on the warm side, temperature-wise, but we were not uncomfortable during our 12 minute wait for our order. Our name was called, the food handed over and we were thanked kindly for our business. Our drive home was 10 minutes and the food was still hot when we arrived. Our to-go order included a $17 brisket dinner which came with 2 sides (mac & cheese and green beans w/bacon) and 2 fried biscuits; a $7 kid's pork slider with coleslaw; and an $8 kid's chicken tenders with mac & cheese. Both kids' meals came with a can of soda and we received our choice of BBQ sauce, which was sweet, smokey and delicious. The brisket was flavorful, juicy and so tender it was falling apart. I have never had fried biscuits before and was pleasantly surprised at the taste and texture - they were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, perfectly seasoned and truly delicious. The pork slider is the best I've ever seen and tasted. I'm extremely picky about pulled pork - it has to be meat only, no fat or gristle and they did an amazing job of quality control on this sandwich. It was 100% juicy, tender pork meat, generously piled on what I consider a large slider. The bread was soft and complimented the flavor of the pork and BBQ sauce perfectly. The chicken tenders were very good but the BBQ menu items are the big hits. The mac & cheese is made with a white, creamy cheese sauce and my husband thoroughly enjoyed it and the green beans. The coleslaw was as expected (what can you do to coleslaw really? If you say add fruit to it, we've got issues!). Overall, the BBQ food is amazing. Next time you're in Brooksville and hungry for barbecue, please support this local family business!

Everything we have eaten here has been fantastic. I love the pulled pork, he loves the brisket. The mac and cheese is one of the best I've had. The service is wonderful. Everyone is very friendly and fast. Can't wait to go back! Only issue is the lack of AC in the dining area.

Turned around for this little gem and ended up being one of the best bbq places I've sampled from in the region, it's modest and unassuming from the exterior but the food is amazing, I had beef brisket that was so good I wish it wasn't an hour and a half away from where we live, if you ever happen up that way, stop in.
