Croom Wildlife Management Area
The Croom Wildlife Management Area offers over 20,000 acres of cypress and longleaf pine forests adjacent to the Withlacoochee River. This area is a haven for hikers and wildlife enthusiasts; keep your eyes peeled for white-tailed deer, gopher tortoises, southern fox squirrels and the rare red-cockaded woodpecker. Be aware that seasonal hunting takes place in the area in October through April; for more details contact the Withlacoochee State Forest Visitor Center at (352) 797-4140.

Dan FBeen riding Croom for 35 years. It’s a very diverse and hilly track for mountain biking. Being a map or take a photo of the map at trailhead- there are lots of choices and directionally impaired people like me can get lost. Best in the Winter and Spring. Although legal to ride, always avoid all of November- hunting season. Isn’t with the risk and not fair to hunters.
