Best Cuban and empanadas in Greater Tampa bay! We always order the collard green/ white bean soup. Made daily of fresh ingredients, the soup, Cubans and empanadas are a staple for our weekly to-go orders. The pastry for the empanadas is THE best! We order the chicken, beef and guava empanadas. Friendly owners and staff (family owned and operated) greet you warmly upon entering. Nostalgic feel inside this historical home/ inn. Love the cafe!

May 29, 2026 · Google ReviewI have been wanting to stop here for years, and a family members' visit gave the perfect opportunity to finally do it. When we arrived, around 11:30 AM on a Wednesday, the place was already quite busy. Several large parties were ahead of us waiting to be seated. Staff handled the backup quite well, and the wait was not as bad as it could have been. Upon being seated, we were provided a basket of piping hot Cuban bread which was really great. After checking out the menu, I decided on the ropa vieja with a side salad and yellow rice. It also came standard with two plantains. Both my family members had Cuban sandwiches. One also ordered an appetizer of tostones. My side salad arrived first and was just a basic salad. Not a lot to comment on with regards to it. The ropa vieja came with both a generous serving of tender shredded beef and yellow rice. Both were well prepared and flavored, although the beef was on the salty side. Both were quite good but didn't hit my expectations, admittedly heightened due to the reputation of the cafe. I enjoyed the two small plantains more than I expected. Family members both enjoyed their Cuban sandwiches, with both commenting on the significant amount of meat included. One even making mention how the contents would ooze out with each bite. One relative received three very large tostones with her order. This was her first time ever trying them and thought the garlic dipping sauce was a strange inclusion for a plantain dip, but found the tastes worked well together. She found them reminiscent of a potato pancake. Something to keep in mind, if ordering a soda, you receive a can with a cup of ice. Don't expect free fountain refills like many other restaurants. Prices were absolutely reasonable for the amount and quality of food received. Staff handled the rush of in-store diners and to-go orders as well as can be expected. Due to its popularity, the place can be loud. Now that I have finally tried Cafe Masaryktown, I look forward to future visits and trying other items from the menu. There were lots of other things I was tempted to try.
May 28, 2026 · Google ReviewAfter visiting Sweetfields Farm on Saturday, we drove past and decided to stop for a meal. I was covered in dirt from the sunflower maze and wearing sandals, so I was concerned I might not be allowed inside. Luckily, that wasn’t a problem. The food was fantastic. My husband enjoyed a Cuban sandwich filled with meat and flavor, while I had a very good steak. The beans tasted just like my mom's back home, making it extra special. The portions were generous and satisfying. The front counter lady, who I think might be the owner, was very friendly, and her service enhanced the experience. Overall, it was a wonderful stop with delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere. I love supporting Latino family-owned businesses and highly recommend visiting this local restaurant.
