Darrin CardComing to Hernando Beach for the first time we didn’t really understand what the flats were. This is a massive area of water that is 1-3 foot deep (at least when we were there) with very sandy bottoms. We were able to take a pontoon boat we rented from Adventures of Hernando Beach. It was very cold when we were here, water temp around 62 but we still had fun, we anchored near the island to help block the wind. The island very rocky.
