The Withlacoochee River is a designated Outstanding Florida Waterway by Paddle Florida. Flowing north, it originates in the Green Swamp, passing through the Croom Tract of Withlacoochee State Forest. Popular Adventure Coast access points for paddling and fresh water fishing are the Nobleton Outpost, with its adjacent River Ratz Cafe, and Silver Lake. The Silver Lake Recreation Area, also part of the Croom Tract, offers a kayak launch, picnic areas and a campground. The 46-mile long Withlacoochee State Trail, popular among hikers, bicyclists and horse riders run alongside.
