November is my favorite month; not just for Thanksgiving but also for the incredible fishing we have on Florida’s Adventure Coast.
The shallow water gag grouper bite is absolutely fantastic this month! Target them in 6-20 feet on rocks and ledges. I’m a live bait guy so live pilchards and pin fish are my go-to baits.
I like to anchor up-current from the target spot and chum the fish for a little bit for a few minutes before we put a hook down. Watching the water will tell you how the fish are reacting to your baits. Use stout gear; these fish are angry and hungry right now.
Inshore the trout bite is picking up on the shallow flats and hard bottom flats. Use a top water plug early or on overcast days for great top water action. When the sun gets to about 10 o’clock, switch over to a soft plastic fluke in white, watermelon red or golden bream.
Red fish are still holding on the outer points but they are going to work back into the creeks as the month goes on.
