June 1st marks the start of 2020 gag grouper season. This is a fantastic month to target gag grouper in shallow water between 10 and 16 feet along the Adventure Coast. On my trips I like to set up up-current and free line live pilchards or pin fish to the rocks for grouper. A stout rod and 80 size reel with 50-pound power pro line and a five-foot leader at 60 pounds is all you need. I give each spot 30 minutes and then I move. A best practice is to not take your limit of grouper off one rock this time of year. If you do that it can turn that rock off for later in the fall season; just take one or two keepers for now and it will make more fish to hold on the rock come October.
Inshore the red fish bite is strong on the high outgoing tide on the outer islands. Use live pilchards or pin fish for bait.
